Samantha Schenck is a Ph.D. student in the economics department at UMass Amherst. She received her B.A. in economics and management from Wells College and an M.A. in economics from UMass Amherst in 2008. For the past three years she has worked with Dr. Lee Badgett on studying the effects of state-level laws that prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
Her primary research interests include studying the usage of family leave policies among non-traditional families as well as analyzing the effects of state laws that expand upon the federal Family Medical Leave Act.
