Samantha Schenck is a PhD student in the Economics Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received her B.A. in Economics and Management from Wells College and a M.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts in 2008. For the past three years she has worked with Dr. Lee Badgett on studying the effects of state-level laws that prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. Her primary research interests include studying the usage of family leave policies among non-traditional families as well as analyzing the effects of state laws that expand upon the federal Family Medical Leave Act.
