Learning How to Communicate Ideas Effectively to People Who Aren’t In Your Iwn field

Learning to speak and write clearly is essential, whether we’re talking about blogs, testimony, media interviews, tweets, newspaper columns, or briefing papers. Engaged scholars also need to understand the “frames” used in debates and the values that shape how people view research. The workshop will include: How to contact and talk to journalists and to participate in the blogosphere Suggestions for writing and placing op-eds How to increase the chances that your research is presented in the way you want it to be understood Ideas for identifying dominant frames and creating effective frames.
