When it comes to finding the right funding, it's hard to know where to start, but UMass Amherst works to support faculty research and innovation every step of the way. This webpage and video points you to the resources to find the right funding for your project.

The campus units who can help you find funding are the Office of Research Development (within the Office of Research and Engagement) and the Office of Foundation Relations

Funds available across campus:

The Institute of Diversity Science's annual seed grants encourage interdisciplinary work covering the themes of diversity and disparities in health, work, learning, or climate change 

The Center for Research on Families runs a scholars program for those applying for funding  

The Institute for Social Science Research runs a scholars program for those applying for funding. 

Institute for Applied Life Sciences also have funding opportunities 

International Programs Office has modest seed-funding or researcher mobility grants with global partners.  

External Funding

Federal support:

Grants.gov houses valuable databases for federal support, you can sign up for alerts for programs like the NSF, NIH, and NASA.

Private foundations:

Office of Foundation Relations will help you navigate the process of securing - private funding - from developing and refining program ideas and identifying prospective funders to drafting, editing, and submitting letters of intent, and proposals.
