Monthly Scholarly Writing Retreats
OFD hosts day-long Scholarly Writing Retreats on one Friday each month throughout the academic year. These monthly retreats take place in the Faculty Commons of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library which offers ample space for writing at large tables, two collaborative workrooms, wireless internet access, and a great view of the Pioneer Valley. Registration is limited to ensure safe spacing among writers. We ask that you register for morning, afternoon, or both as you know your plans. (See events calendar to register.)

Semester-Launch Scholarly Writing Retreats
Each August and January, the Office of Faculty Development hosts an all day Scholarly Writing Retreat in the Great Hall of the UMass Amherst Old Chapel. The Old Chapel provides a quiet, remote and beautiful on-campus location for you and your colleagues to engage in focused writing time and to launch your writing goals for the semester. You are welcome to attend all or part of the day.  OFD provides coffee, tea and water throughout. Feel free to bring your own lunch and snacks to keep you going! We will also have power strips and extension cords available to ensure your ability to stay as long as you want.

Off-site May Scholarly Writing Retreats
OFD hosts an off-site Scholarly Writing Retreat each May to help faculty jump-start their summer writing projects. This highly-rated event offers faculty a comfortable and collegial environment, in a beautiful location in which to work on scholarly projects. Breakout sessions and individual consultations are offered on effective writing, setting writing goals and developing a competitive proposal for funding. Continental breakfast and a catered lunch are provided along with coffee and tea throughout the day.
