Supporting Non-Tenure Track Faculty
OFD's “Supporting Non-Tenure-Track Faculty” programs address the professional development needs of faculty on the continuing appointment track, including clinical faculty, extension faculty, and lecturers.
This programming, developed by Christiane Healey, Senior Faculty Fellow and Senior Lecturer II, was inspired by the experiences of UMass Amherst NTT faculty who shared their thoughts in focus groups and through the COACHE survey.
Mutual Mentoring Groups for Non-Tenure Track Faculty
Having a ‘go-to’ mentor network is instrumental to having a successful faculty career, no matter the career stage, or how long you’ve been at UMass. OFD’s mutual mentoring 'incubators' for continuing-track clinical faculty, extension faculty, and lecturers offer the opportunity to build a new network of colleagues for career support. Groups meet regularly throughout the semester and/or academic year. At each gathering, members check-in, describe challenges, problem solve, and/or share professional development strategies.
FALL 2023
This fall, OFD is hosting mutual mentoring groups for non-tenure track faculty on the continuing appointment track. These groups offer faculty the opportunity to build a new network of colleagues for career support, to share ideas, and learn from each other.
Registration for these groups is now closed.
Please contact Christiane Healey with questions.
Annual Faculty Report (AFR) Sessions
Have you ever wondered how to include something on your Annual Faculty Report (AFR)? Want to get a second set of eyes on a draft? Are you new to writing an AFR and are wondering about its purpose and structure? Get help from colleagues!
Writing an Annual Faculty Report can feel like a chore, but it serves an important purpose. Your annual faculty report summarizes—and showcases!—your accomplishments over the last year and is used during the annual review, contract renewal, and promotion. All faculty with an appointment at 50% FTE or greater must submit an AFR by the October 16 deadline.
These sessions offer a mix of advice, answers to your questions, and space to work on your AFR
FALL 2023 SESSIONS
- These sessions occurred on October 2 and October 10.
Promotion Writing Groups for Lecturers and Sr. Lecturers
OFD annually offers Promotion Writing Group for lecturers and senior lecturers going up for promotion. The goal of these groups is to come together to share strategies and ideas and to work together on promotion materials. Meetings are facilitated by OFD Faculty Fellow Senior Lecturer Christiane Healey.
