Partners in Faculty Support

OFD is pleased to collaborate on campus and beyond with these primary partners in faculty support:

ADVANCE

Through the power of collaboration, UMass ADVANCE transforms the campus by cultivating faculty equity, inclusion and success. ADVANCE provides the resources, recognition and relationship building that are critical to equitable and successful collaboration in the 21st century academy. UMass ADVANCE is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), which is advancing women faculty, including women faculty of color, in science and engineering.

Center for Teaching and Learning

The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) focuses on course design, classroom instruction, curriculum development, and other forms of instructional support for faculty, departments, and the campus as a whole. CTL strives to inspire excellence in teaching, to recognize and promote UMass Amherst's outstanding instructors, and to support the campus in cultivating diversity, equity, and inclusion in all learning environments. CTL does this by offering an array of teaching development workshops, talks, individual consultations, the signature Midterm Assessment Process (MAP), and through the facilitation of our transformative faculty learning communities.

Faculty Diversity - Office of the Provost

Led by the Associate Provost for Equity and Inclusion, the Faculty Diversity program supports equity and inclusion in all aspects of faculty life through:

  • A rigorous approach to recruiting a diverse faculty, including comprehensive search committee training and support
  • Targeted programs aimed at attracting top faculty from diverse backgrounds
  • An inclusive view of faculty development and advancement, which foregrounds mentoring and community building as central features of faculty success
  • Developing programs that will help faculty at all career stages reach their professional development goals

The Faculty Diversity program also aids colleges and departments in conducting regular self-assessment, and provide an array of resources to foster inclusive practices toward faculty engagement and advancement.
