The Office of Faculty Development is pleased to announce that Provost Fouad Abd-El-Khalick has selected five UMass Amherst faculty to receive the Mid-Career Post-Tenure (MCPT) Fellowship for the 2024-2025 academic year: Associate Professors Amel Ahmed, Joshua Braun, Hoang Phan, Jacquie Kurland, and Angela Willey. 
 
The purpose of this competitively awarded fellowship is to provide a research-intensive semester to Associate Professors whose service and teaching responsibilities have exceeded the norm. Award recipients will be provided with one semester of release from teaching responsibilities, department obligations, and college service in accordance with Article 15.16 of the collective bargaining agreement between UMass Amherst and the Massachusetts Society of Professors. 

2024-25 MCPT Fellowship Recipients: 

  • Amel Ahmed - Associate Professor, Political Science, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences  
  • Joshua Braun - Associate Professor, Journalism, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences 
  • Hoang Phan- Associate Professor, English, College of Humanities & Fine Arts 
  • Jacquie Kurland - Associate Professor, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, School of Public Health & Health Sciences 
  • Angela Willey - Associate Professor, Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies, College of Humanities & Fine Arts
