When should I anticipate the major budgetary, mentoring, awards, and personnel actions?

Suggestions to get you started:

  1. Set up a master calendar and planning system that makes sense for you. (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Google calendar.)
  2. Include the deadlines indicated on the Heads/Chairs workflow below (timelines may vary according to school/college).
  3. Find the specific dates for each year from the university's personnel, academic, awards and budget planning websites (below) and discuss with your business manager. Review the list of deadlines for academic personnel
  4. Add the preparation tasks that proceed those deadlines. For example: get the names of the 'review' letters from those faculty going up for promotion; schedule meetings in anticipation of a personnel related deadlines.
  5. Plan for personnel changes.
    • Review the list of faculty that will undergo a mandatory personnel action during the upcoming academic year and schedule meetings to discuss their personnel actions.
    • Create a list of faculty that you anticipate will be going up for promotion and schedule meetings to discuss their personnel actions.
    • Create a list of faculty that you anticipate will be going on leave in the next few years to plan for teaching replacements in advance.
