LEAD+ (Leadership Enhancement for Academic Departments) is a professional development and support program for heads/chairs and associate deans covering topics of common concern to department/unit leaders. It is offered jointly by the Academic Personnel Office and the Office of Faculty Development.

In this presentation, Acting VCRE Laura Vandenberg will provide an overview of the offices within Research & Engagement, providing tips to department and college administrators about how to best utilize R&E resources to support faculty’s research plans. Laura will also provide an overview of some of the most important research administrative actions like indirect cost waivers, cost-sharing, and how to address sub-award disputes. She will explain important research compliance issues around data use agreements, material transfer agreements, conflict of interest management, open research exemptions, foreign engagement and export control. Research compliance requirements continue to change, and in this LEAD+ session, Laura will help chairs and associate deans understand the most challenging issues on the horizon.

Presenter: Laura Vandenberg, Acting Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement, Professor of Environmental Health Sciences
