Hosted by Academic Human Resources and the Office of Faculty Development in collaboration with the Provost's Office

LEAD+ (Leadership Enhancement for Academic Departments) is a professional development and support program for heads/chairs and associate deans covering topics of common concern to department/unit leaders. It is offered jointly by the Academic Personnel Office and the Office of Faculty Development.

Are your annual faculty evaluations inspiring growth—or leaving colleagues uncertain about their path forward? Join us for an engaging workshop designed to strengthen departments’ approach to reviewing Annual Faculty Reports (AFRs).

Led by Angela de Oliveira, Associate Provost for Faculty Development, and Sarah Poissant, Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, this session will explore how thoughtful, transparent, and supportive evaluation can become a powerful tool for faculty development and success.

Through real survey insights, case examples, and practical strategies, participants will learn how to:

  • Deliver feedback that motivates rather than discourages
  • Align evaluations with promotion, tenure, and career development goals
  • Build a culture of clarity, equity, and recognition
  • Move from judgment (“good year”) to development (“here’s how you can grow”)
  • Sustain effective feedback practices without overwhelming chairs and committees

Why Attend?
This workshop is not about bureaucracy—it’s about investing in faculty success. You’ll leave with actionable tips, discussion prompts, and a renewed vision for how evaluations can strengthen departmental culture, support mentoring, and celebrate faculty achievements.

This session is open to all heads/chairs and associate deans. Please email @email with questions and/or for more information.
