LEAD+: COACHE Findings - The Department & Faculty Activity Reporting Changes
Hosted by the Academic Personnel Office and the Office of Faculty Development in collaboration with the Provost's Office
LEAD+ (Leadership Enhancement for Academic Departments) is a professional development and support program for heads/chairs and associate deans covering topics of common concern to department/unit leaders. It is offered jointly by the Academic Personnel Office and the Office of Faculty Development.
Academic departments are the primary context in which faculty members experience university life. The COACHE survey instrument captures three important dimensions of departmental culture: collegiality, engagement, and excellence (which COACHE terms quality). Here, we also discuss departmental leadership, as department chairs and heads play critical roles in shaping faculty work satisfaction. This report examines these four dimensions of departmental context experienced by faculty at UMass Amherst. In this session, heads and chairs will preview this important COACHE report and engage in a discussion of how to make our wonderful departments even better.
In addition, Academic HR will present about upcoming changes to the Faculty Activity Reporting process.
Presenter:
- Angela de Oliveira, Associate Provost for Faculty Development
- Jocelyn Tedisky, Assistant Provost and Senior Director of Academic Human Resources
This session is open to new heads/chairs and associate deans. Please email @email with questions and/or for more information.
