The Academic Personnel Policy (the Redbook) presents relatively clear criteria for promotion to associate professor and the award of tenure, but the criteria for promotion to (full) professor are not so well defined.

On pages 7-8 of his annual Promotion and Tenure Memo, former Provost McCarthy offered some clarifications of the Redbook language on promotion to full rank. This workshop will discuss those clarifications and their practical implications.

The intended audience consists of associate professors and members/chairs of departmental and school/college personnel committees.

Join us after the workshop for coffee, cookies, and conversation.

Facilitator: John McCarthy, Distinguished University Professor and Provost Emeritus
