Amherst Survival Center

Volunteering is one way to serve our community, develop relationships, and connect through a shared sense of purpose. To build community, NTT faculty are invited to volunteer at the Amherst Survival Center in small groups on select Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., a time when the Survival Center is closed to the public. This volunteer work is especially important as the holiday season approaches. You’ll be joined by Jason Hooper, senior fellow and associate director of faculty development, to complete essential projects, such as preparing grocery orders for home delivery.

Since 1976 the Amherst Survival Center has promoted the health and well-being of residents of Franklin and Hampshire counties with a wide variety of programs designed to help people meet their basic needs. The Survival Center is located one mile north of campus at 138 Sunderland Road and is a stop on the 33 bus line which provides service to and from campus along North Pleasant Street. Parking is also available in the main lot. NTT faculty, including clinical faculty, extension faculty, lecturers, and research faculty, are welcome to sign up for one or more of the dates. Space is limited; please sign up only if you know you will attend.

Additional dates:

  • Wednesday, October 16, 1:00–3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 30, 1:00–3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 13, 1:00–3:00 p.m.

For NTT faculty who report their time at work, please see the State Employees Responding as Volunteers Program (SERV).
