Sometimes, teaching can feel like a slog: students are in crisis, attendance can be erratic, assignments are submitted late, and a myriad of other responsibilities encroach on our time. It’s never been harder to feel invigorated as teachers. And yet, when we support ourselves, we can offer better learning experiences for our students. In this session, we’ll identify our teaching values and how they can help guide what we do and don’t do in our classes; discuss what it really means to establish teaching boundaries; explore how to give ourselves permission to adapt and maintain the integrity of our courses; and take care of ourselves. Come for the ideas and community and leave with new approaches that will make this semester better than the last.
