Associate & Assistant Dean Workshop: Leading Self and Others During Change and Uncertainty
This workshop addresses the unique and challenging position that associate and assistant deans occupy, especially under change and uncertainty. Associate and assistant deans are the frequent implementers of rapid policy change that they did not develop. Furthermore, they work in the trenches with department heads and faculty but lack the full weight of authority enjoyed by the Deans.
The workshop will engage participants in material, exercises, and conversations about their own leadership and how to support others under change and uncertainty. We will examine topics including associate/assistant deans’ dual role of authority figure and support person, self and other-awareness, and the unique needs of faculty and staff during times of uncertainty.
