In 2024, UMass Amherst received the Delphi Award from USC’s Pullias Center for Higher Education for our innovative policies supporting non-tenure-track (NTT) faculty. This prize money is funding a new award to recognize the achievements of non-tenure-track faculty in ensuring that UMass is a place where NTT faculty thrive.
The UMass Amherst Delphi Leadership Award honors NTT faculty who have provided exceptional leadership and made innovative contributions in support of their non-tenure-track peers at UMass Amherst. Three awardees will be recognized each year and each awardee will receive a $1,500 award.
Eligibility
All non-tenure-track faculty on continuing appointments are eligible to be nominated for this award.
Award Focus
The nomination letter and personal statement should clearly state the contributions that the NTT faculty member has made in the areas of improving working conditions, professional development of NTT faculty, advocacy and/or community building among NTT faculty.
The Nomination Process
Any member of the UMass Amherst community can nominate a faculty member. The following materials must be submitted via Qualtrics (link below) to the selection committee:
- A nomination letter (maximum of 750 words). The letter should advocate for the nominee and outline the case for how the nominee has contributed to the success of NTT faculty.
- A personal statement prepared by the faculty member being nominated (maximum of 750 words). The statement should describe the leadership and innovative contributions in support of NTT faculty at UMass Amherst.
- A CV, including information pertinent to the award criteria (maximum of five pages). The CV should include the appointment and years of service at UMass Amherst.
