Identifying mechanisms of peer influence on youth weight-related behaviors

Pediatric obesity has increased two- to three-fold since the 1970’s and continues to be a major public health concern. The Food, Activity, Screens, and Teens (FAST) Study will uniquely identify leverage points in adolescent school-based social networks that can be used to improve interventions targeting physical activity, screen time, and dietary intake. In this talk we will discuss the innovative theoretical and design elements, data collection, and advanced network and prediction modeling approaches that are being applied to the data from this cross-campus collaborative project.
