UMass Employee Resource Group Launch Event

The Offices of Equity and Inclusion and Human Resources are launching the UMass Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) as of Spring 2020. This initiative will provide UMass staff and faculty with resources for professional development, networking, and mentorship, while also promoting the recruitment, retention, and advancement of employees who are underrepresented in our community. 

Join us at the campus-wide launch event to hear more about the Resource Groups launching this year, meet the staff and faculty members who are serving on the Groups’ inaugural Steering Committees, and sign up to receive information on these groups’ upcoming meetings. Refreshments will be served.

UMass Network for Diversity in Abilities

Promoting an environment that is open and inclusive for all individuals across the continuum of ability, through engagement, education, and advocacy. The group also focuses on ways to support the recruitment, retention, and advancement of employees experiencing disabilities.

Steering Committee: Michele Cooke (Professor and Graduate Program Director, Geosciences), AnnMarie Duchon (Interim Director of Disability Services, Human Resources), Lori Corcoran (Accessible Workplace Manager, Human Resources), and Melinda Lelacheur (Compliance Program Assistant, Research and Engagement).

UMass Faculty and Staff of Color Network

Fostering connections and developing community for employees from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups at UMass Amherst, and promoting an inclusive work environment.

Steering Committee: Sara Littlecrow-Russell (Executive Director of Organizational Effectiveness, Student Affairs and Campus Life), additional members TBA.

UMass International Staff/Faculty Network

Building connections, assisting in the transition to the University, and promoting a community and working environment for both new arrivals and long-time residents of the U.S., that is both welcoming and nurturing.

Steering Committee: Nyudlya Araeva (Research Development & Support Specialist, Public Health and Health Sciences), Richard Chu (ERG co-chair, Professor of History), Pamela Dutta (ERG co-chair, Associate Director for International Student and Scholar Success, International Programs Office), Kirsten Helmer (Director of Programming for Diversity, Inclusion, & Equity and Lecturer, Center for Teaching & Learning), Sonia Lindop (Project Manager, Partnership for Worker Education) Cristiano Mazzei (Director of Online Translator and Interpreter Training, Languages, Literature, and Culture), and Tanya Tang (Assistant Professor Marketing, Isenberg School of Management).

UMass LGBTQIA+ Network

Cultivating a more welcoming and respectful campus community for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual individuals and their allies, with a primary focus on the retention, advancement, and edification of UMass Amherst staff and faculty.

Steering Committee: Bradley Bennett (Associate Dean for Finance & Administration, Isenberg School of Management), Anne Moore (Libraries), and Crystal Nieves (Assistant Director, Stonewall)

UMass Veterans Network

Working to make UMass Amherst a workplace of choice for veterans, reservists, and guardsmen, while fostering a community to support and encourage networking, career development, and mentorship.            

Steering Committee: Candace Berrena (Talent Acquisition Consultant, Human Resources) and Matt Bachmann (Director, Student Veteran Resource Center).

In addition to these groups launching this Academic year, the University Women's Network, established in 1981, continues to serve UMass and Five College faculty and Staff.
