'Teaching Workshop: Motivating Students by Teaching Inclusively'

Teacher awareness of and respect for the social and cultural diversity of today's university student population influences students' motivation to learn and achieve academic success. This interactive workshop is aimed at participants across all disciplines who seek effective and practical teaching strategies that foster motivation in their classrooms across diverse students.

Please plan to attend both sessions.

Session 1: Tuesday, October 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The first session will lay the foundation and engage participants with the Motivational Framework developed by Ginsberg and Wlodkowski (2009), which provides an interdisciplinary approach and set of integrated norms and teaching practices that promote and support equitable learning for diverse learners in a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

Session 2: Tuesday, October 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The second session will involve participants in the practical application of the Motivational Framework to their own teaching and course design.

The Campus Center is located in the middle of campus at 1 Campus Center Way. Parking is available in the Campus Center Garage.
