Manisha Sinha will deliver a talk on what you didn't know about the abolition movement: the ordinary men and women, black and white, free and enslaved, who are the unsung heroes of American democracy.

Former UMass Amherst professor Manisha Sinha will be speaking at the event. She researches early United States history, especially the transnational histories of slavery and abolition and the history of the Civil War and Reconstruction. Her most recent book The Slave’s Cause: A History of Abolition was featured as the Editor’s Choice of the New York Times Book Review and named to the National Book Award Longlist, Nonfiction.
