STEM Ed Tuesday Talk: "A Vision for Biomedical Engineering at UMass"

Tammy Haut Donahue, head of Biomedical Engineering, will focus on the vision and future of Biomedical Engineering at UMass Amherst. Both research and teaching will be integral parts of the department. Three specific tracks will be available to students to help focus their studies should they choose to do so. These include Biomechanics, Bioinstrumentation and Sensors, and Biomaterials and Therapies. The department expects to hire 12 faculty over the next five years as the department grows. Demand for the program is strong and Department objectives will be discussed. Collaboratory possibilities with the UMass Medical School will be presented as well as research directions for the Department. An overview of the undergraduate curriculum and opportunities for the students will be presented.
