Event Details

February 23, 2021
5:00 pm-6:00 pm

The School of Public Health and Health Sciences welcomes Associate Professor of Communication Disorders Mary Andrianopoulos for the next talk in its dean seminar series on February 23, 2021, from 5:00-6:00 pm. She will deliver a talk on “The Use of Vocal Biomarkers for Differential Diagnosis.”

The quality of the human voice is correlated with the health and integrity of the central and peripheral nervous systems and the severity and/or progression of disease. Children with specific neurodevelopmental conditions, such as Autism, can be distinguished from their typically developing peers based on their vocal productions and atypical prosody. The use of vocal biomarkers will be discussed with respect to differential diagnosis.
