6:00 pm-7:30 pm
Join us for a discussion on social justice issues and how alumnus Tim Harris '87 is making a difference in the lives of Seattle's homeless.
Hear about Harris's journey from being a teen runaway and high school dropout,to starting his first newspaper at UMass Amherst in 1986, to now providing opportunity and a voice to homeless and low-income people.
Harris is the founding director of Seattle's Real Change newspaper, an influential and beloved community institution that provides opportunity and hope to 300 homeless and low-income people each month. Now in its 25th year, Real Change is an essential source of independent community news and a powerful lever for change in the Seattle area. Harris has been active as a poor people’s organizer for more than three decades while taking action for economic, social, and racial justice.
