Carlos Santiago Arroyo will discuss the historical context of Santos de Palo in Puerto Rico, notable carvers, and their styles. 
 
He will also address the transition of carving from religious purposes to a form of artistic expression, the growing influence of women in the craft, and the present state of this art form.
