The  Jones Library in Amherst is proud to announce that the Sixth Annual Samuel Minot Jones Awards for Literary Achievement — the Sammys — will honor poet Richard Michelson and The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. In addition, as we celebrate the centennial year of the Jones Library, a special Centennial Sammy will be given to author Bruce Watson

The Sammys is Amherst's signature gala honoring the community's remarkable and vibrant literary heritage. The evening will begin with delicious and abundant hors d'oeuvres, beer from local breweries, wine, a new signature cocktail and live music.  The awards ceremony will follow the reception.  The evening will end with a dessert and cocktail pairing, book signings by the honorees, and the results of this year’s special silent auction.

A unique addition to this year’s celebration is a silent action, highlighting the work of our artists and writers.  The silent auction is open until noon on April 25 at . Bidding will continue at the gala event, and winners will be announced after the awards ceremony.

All proceeds from the Sammys will be used to support Library collections, purchasing materials in all formats and for all ages.
