Representation of the Black Body reading series meets every Tuesday and Thursday, spring semester.
Designed by English Instructor Korka Sall, this 3-hour reading series explores the representation of the black body in literature by writers from the Global South focusing on colonialism, oppression, racism, gender, sexuality and race. The texts by artists from across the world will help broaden our discussion of race relations, gender, language and literature through the English language.
Books:
Our Sister Killjoy - Ama Ata Aidoo
Discourse on Colonialism - Anne Cesaine
So Long a Letter - Marianna Ba
Things Fall Apart - Chinua Achebe
A Small Place - Jamaica Kincaid
