As the weather warms up, kick back with a good book and join alumni and friends to read Things We Lost to the Water by Eric Nguyen as part of the Read UMass book club.

This stunning debut novel from Nguyen centers around an immigrant Vietnamese family who settles in New Orleans and struggles to remain connected to one another as their lives are inextricably reshaped.

"When Huong arrives in New Orleans with her two young sons, she is jobless, homeless, and worried about her husband, Cong, who remains in Vietnam. As she and her boys begin to settle in to life in America, she continues to send letters and tapes back to Cong, hopeful that they will be reunited and her children will grow up with a father." - Amazon.com

Joining our book club will provide you access to tailored discussions among a community of alumni and friends. There is no cost to participate—you'll just need a copy of the book to read.

Register soon, reading starts on May 26.

Book club participants are also invited to a special, virtual live author talk with Eric Nguyen on July 28 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
Please contact Emily Eagan if you have not received your sign up link.
