As part of the 6th Annual Amherst Poetry Festival and its participating exhibit We Grow Accustomed to the Dark, Herter Gallery presents a special night of poetry reading and live performance. The poets reading at this show are Leslie Edwards, Mia Kang, Nathalie Vicencio, and Sarah Sousa. The performance is by Amanda Boggs, who is one of the artists in the exhibition. Please join us in celebrating this exciting collaboration between the Herter Gallery and the Emily Dickinson Museum. The Amherst Poetry Festival, now in its sixth year, is organized by the Emily Dickinson Museum and celebrates the literary legacy and contemporary creativity of the Pioneer Valley and beyond. In 2018, the Festival will take poetry off the shelf and bring it to the street, the gallery, the cemetery, and even the planetarium through a series of readings, workshops, and community events. The oldest exhibition space on campus, Herter Art Gallery is a significant landmark in the University's commitment to public education as well as the cultural history of the region. It supports the teaching mission of the Department of Art, to which it belongs, by supporting, pioneering, and redefining contemporary art.
