The 5th annual Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention will be taking place on the Student Union South lawn. It is hosted by the UMass Amherst Chapter of Active Minds. The purpose of this walk is to raise awareness about suicide, the second leading cause of young deaths, and the ways to prevent it. This is a mission started by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the goal is to raise funds for the AFSP that will be invested in new research on suicide, creating educational programs that promote suicide prevention, advocating for public policy change, and supporting survivors of suicide loss. Join us as we walk around the campus, listen to guest speakers, and connect as a community.
