The Northeast Climate Science Center's regional science meeting will focus on "Incorporating Climate Science in the Management of Natural and Cultural Resources in the Midwest and Northeast."
Since the inception of the Northeast Climate Science Center (hosted by UMass Amherst) in 2012, stakeholder partners have been guiding its science directions and priorities so that together we can improve the way climate science informs decisions and actions in adapting to a changing climate. For the regional science meeting, scientists and partners will reflect on their collaborative work to incorporate climate science in the management of natural and cultural resources in the Northeast and Midwest and determine future directions and needs for the region. The program will include presentations, panel discussions and needs assessments for incorporating climate science into management of priority natural resources.
The themes related to climate science, impacts, and actionable science that will be explored are:
- Conservation Across Landscapes: Aquatic Connectivity and Terrestrial Landscape Conservation Design
- Fish and Wildlife
- Forest Management and Adaptation
- Coastal Resilience: Great Lakes and Atlantic Coasts
- Floodplains and Wetlands
- Climate Science Informing Management
The Marriott Center is located on the 11th floor of the UMass Amherst Campus Center.
