Students and teachers from area  public schools and from as two schools in Eastern Massachusetts show their work in a collaborative exhibit organized by the UMass Amherst Department of Art.

This unique exhibit, New Visions, gives the public a window through which to see the work of K-12 students and their teachers displaying the many ways artists learn and create.

The opening reception for the young artists, families, friends and teachers is on   Sunday, April 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Herter Gallery. 

The following schools will be represented: Belchertown High School, Buckland-Shelburne Elementary School, Chicopee High School, Deerfield Elementary School, Holyoke Public Schools - Donahue Elementary and Kelly Full Service Community School, Ludlow High School, Northampton Public Schools -Northampton High and Bridge Street, RK Finn Ryan Road, Jackson Street, and Leeds Elementary Schools, Oliver Ames High School in Easton, West Springfield Public Schools - West Springfield High, West Springfield Middle and Memorial, Tatham, Mitteneague, Coburn, Ashley, and Fausey Elementary Schools, Wildwood Elementary School in Amherst and Winthrop L. Chenery Middle School in Belmont.

This event was made possible in part with a grant from the UMass Arts Council, with additional support from the College of Humanities and Fine Arts at UMass Amherst.


Herter Art Gallery is located at the north end of Herter Hall west of the Fine Arts Center. Public parking is available at all times behind the Robsham Visitors Center and at meters along Haigis Mall. Nights and weekends parking is also available in Lot #71, west of the Whitmore Administration Building.
