The LLC department invites you to the New French Extremist Cinema Festival, every Thursday from Nov. 30 to Dec. 14.
The three films screened during the festival represent the radical and brief turn taken by French cinema in the mid-2000’s and their influence on later films. Tackling controversial subjects, the films of Julia Ducournau, Bustillo & Maury and Fabrice Du Welz offer the underside of the French psyche, miles from the traditional clichés of French culture and identity. Some of these films were almost never screened in American theaters. The festival is a unique occasion to showcase the radical voices of a new generation of filmmakers gathered under the unofficial title of New French Extremity.
All screenings take place in Herter Hall 227 from 6:30 to 8:30 and will be subtitled. Free pizza will be provided.
CONTENT WARNING : all films presented during the festival are rated R and may not be suitable for all audiences.
