The new Models to Medicine Center of the recently launched Institute for Applied Life Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is hosting a kick-off symposium on “Models to Medicine: Challenges and Opportunities.” The symposium talks will describe exciting basic biomedical research pursuits that have been translated into therapeutic applications. The day will begin at 11:00 am with a poster session that showcases “Models-to-Medicine” research activities at UMass Amherst, to be held in the new Life Science Laboratories. Box lunches will be available (must be reserved in advance). Next, we will move to the Student Union Ballroom to begin the formal symposium with a panel discussion on the topic of challenges and opportunities arising in translation of basic research outcomes into therapeutic applications, followed by four talks that illustrate this theme. The day will end with a reception to which all attendees are invited. This symposium offers attendees a unique opportunity to hear presentations from leading researchers and to network with academic and industrial researchers from the New England area. Please join us!
