Massachusetts Public Higher Education Advocacy Day
March 5, 2014
10:00 am-2:30 pm
Hundreds of students, faculty, staff and other advocates for public higher education will be at the State House to talk with our legislators.
Last year’s Advocacy Day succeeded in winning the best higher education budget in a very very long time — including the first student fee freeze in memory. Mass advocacy works!
On March 5, we want to thank our legislators and remind them that last year was Step 1 of a 2-year plan to get to “50/50″ – where the state pays at least 50% of the cost of education, with students and their families paying no more than 50%.
The Governor’s budget proposal, while decent, does not fund our campuses at the levels required to maintain the fee freeze and fund union contracts. We need to convince our Representatives to do better.
Advocacy Day will include inspiring speakers, lobbying training, discussions with legislators, a chance to bond with like-minded folks, and a free lunch!
