The Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) will mark the opening of its new $150 million state-of-the-art research facilities at 240 Thatcher Road, University of Massachusetts Amherst with a grand opening celebration on October 21st. Established in 2014 with $95 million from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and $55 million from the University, IALS brings industry and academia together to translate life science research into products that improve human health such as medical devices, drug-delivery technologies and therapeutic candidates.

Dr. Harvey Lodish, Professor of Biology and founding member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, founder of Genzyme, and Millennium Pharmaceuticals, member of the National Academy of Sciences will give the keynote address. A ribbon cutting, facilities tours, industry/academic collaboration panel, poster sessions and networking reception round out the program.
