November 15, 2019
9:00 am-11:00 am
Integrative Learning Center
Room: 300
UMass Amherst Campus
"Personnel Management" led by experienced PI's and personnel management experts Mark Tuominen (Associate Dean of Research and Innovation), Shana Passano (Director of Professional Development), Karen Helfer (Chair of Communication Disorders and Chancellor's Leadership Fellow), and Michelle Budig (Vice Provost for Faculty Development)
Managing personnel--including students, staff, and colleagues--can be a challenging part of the job for PI's. In this workshop, PI's will use case studies, active learning, and self-discovery to hone effective personnel management skills. These skills include developing a strong emotional IQ, learning the art of effective delegation, providing actionable feedback, and motivating high performance.
The I'm a PI, Now What? series helps faculty Principal Investigators in managing the challenging tasks of grant administration while staying focused on the research. Developed by senior grant-funded faculty, this year's series will cover topics such as project management, personnel management, effective collaborations, memorandums of understanding, and more.
