The Healthy Development Initiative, an urban research, education and outreach program led by University of Massachusetts Amherst faculty, is hosting its third annual open house at the UMass Center at Springfield.

Researchers, professionals and community members are invited to learn more about the initiative, which is aimed at understanding and promoting the psychological and physical health and well-being of children, adolescents, adults and seniors, according to its director, Kirby Deater-Deckard, professor of psychological and brain studies at UMass Amherst.

At the open house, there will be interactive presentations on various topics with a special emphasis on families, schools and child development. There also will be tours of the facility and an opportunity to meet the Healthy Development Initiative staff from UMass Amherst and the UMass Center at Springfield as well as community partners. Refreshments will be available.
