Alan Fraser presents “Body Organization and Musicianship at the Piano,” lecture-demonstration and masterclass for piano teachers and performers.
Canadian pianist Alan Fraser is a regular recitalist in Europe and Canada and the author of several books on piano technique: The Craft of Piano Playing (also in DVD), Honing the Pianistic Self-Image, and All Thumbs: Well-Coordinated Piano Technique.
He is active as a teacher on both sides of the Atlantic, with branches of the Alan Fraser Piano Institute in Canada, the US, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.
Fraser draws on his study with Canadian pioneer pianist and psychologist Phil Cohen and his collaboration with the Croatian virtuoso Kemal Gekic. His training as a teacher of the Feldenkrais Method gives him significant insight into how to solve technical and expressive challenges.
“Body Organization and Musicianship at the Piano: Learn about new technical resources for solving the challenges of artistic playing,” is co-sponsored by the Valley Piano Teachers Association and the Department of Music and Dance.
Bezanson Recital Hall is located within the Fine Arts Center. https://fac.umass.edu/Online/default.asp?doWork::WScontent::loadArticle=...
