Graduate Student Speaker Contest

The Graduate School is delighted to announce the annual Graduate Student Speaker Contest!

All master's and doctoral students are invited to submit a speech proposal for consideration as the UMass Amherst Graduate Student Speaker for the Class of 2023. One graduate student will be awarded the honor of addressing the audience at the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 26, 2023. The winner of the Graduate Commencement Student Speaker Contest will be a focal point of this major celebration, and claim a special place in UMass Amherst history. 

Do you want to be recognized as the voice of the 2023 UMass Amherst graduate class? Then don't miss the opportunity to compete for this unique honor!    

Submission Deadline: March 1, 2023 at midnight.

Submit Proposals via Email To: Student Speaker Selection Committee, ATTN: Rebecca White, rebecca.white@umass.edu.

Please be sure to include: 

• Graduate Student Speaker in the subject line
• Your Full Name
• Your Student ID Number
• Your Discipline
• Attach your speech for consideration. Proposals should consist of three to four minutes of speaking time.
