Based on the true story of an extraordinary, contradictory young East German. During the day, Gerhard Gundermann was a machine operator. But after work, he was a famous singer-songwriter with a mass following. His authentic lyrics and performances made him a cultural icon; but he was also often in trouble with the authorities. After the fall of the Wall in 1989, Gundermann’s popularity continued growing, even after he was outed as an informant for the notorious Stasi.
