The Department of Music and Dance presents a Faculty Concert featuring Ayano Kataoka, percussion with Elizabeth Chang, violin and Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, saxophone.

They will perform music for percussion and electronics, including Thierry de Mey: Silence Must Be, Conlon Nancarrow (arr. Dominic Murcott): Study for Player Piano No. 5, Salvatore Macchia: Ritual VIII: Folded Memories for Violin & Percussion (WORLD PREMIERE), Charles Bestor: Suite for Saxophone and Percussion, David Crowell: Celestial Sphere, and Lukas Ligeti: Thinking Songs for solo marimba.

Percussionist Ayano Kataoka, director of the UMass Percussion Studio, is known for her brilliant and dynamic technique, as well as the unique elegance and artistry she brings to her performances.
