Entrepreneurship Workshop: Investor's Mindset
April 1, 2019
6:00 pm-8:00 pm
Old Chapel
Room: Great Hall
UMass Amherst Campus
Investor’s Mindset: What are an entrepreneur’s options, what do investors care and think about and how should I move forward?
Panelists: Jean Coyle, Carl Fisher Company; Jay Leonard, Springfield Venture Fund; Liz Roberts, Zebra’s Unite; Chris Sims, The Alchemy Fund
A number of investors will share their stories of what they look for in businesses they fund. Regardless of what stage an entrepreneur or future entrepreneur is in, knowing how investors think will save time and even change their approach to better conceiving, imagining and scaling their business early in the entrepreneur’s journey.
The investors on the panel will explore questions like: What signals spark a good investment? What type of prep should an entrepreneur do before they get in front of you? How do you decide whom you will or won’t meet with? How does your approach differ from other investors? What behavior or comments shut you down when meeting with or speaking with an entrepreneur? What people should expect from investors outside of the Valley who may or may not be as friendly as the folks in the Valley?
This workshop has three components:
- New venture investor panel shares what they look for in deals
- Q&A
- Networking
