The College of Nursing is delighted to present this talk by Dr. Margaret Barton-Burke, Director of Nursing Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This presentation will highlight the role of a nurse scientist as administrator at a research intensive clinical facility. Examples of research projects being developed, conducted, and completed by nurses with varying educational backgrounds will be offered as examples of nurse scientist mentoring. Results of a recent survey of the nursing staff regarding research experience and interest will illustrate the context of nurse scientist role. The presentation will finish with highlights of the nurse scientist as research and an overview of Dr. Barton-Burke’s program of research.
