"Strategies for Promoting International Student Success in Content Courses," with Andrea Dallas.
In this workshop, we will explore strategies that college instructors can adopt to support English as as additional language (EAL) students in their classrooms. We will examine cultural differences in expectations, concepts related to language learning, and practical strategies that can be applied to the classroom immediately.
Session Goals
- Explore expectations in higher education contexts
- Learn strategies to promote EAL student learning
- Apply strategies to common situations that arise with EAL students in the classroom
The presenter, Andrea Dallas, is the director of the English as a Second Language Program at UMass Amherst. She has over 20 years of experience in various contexts teaching Academic English to EAL students.
