Dignity and Respect in Action: Community Conversations
November 5, 2019
11:15 am-1:15 pm
UMass Amherst Campus
A series of group conversations for students, faculty and staff to build skills to overcome division while talking about real issues affecting our campus and society at large. These conversations are designed to help us engage others in discussions that are based in empathy and invite diverse perspectives in an effort to create shared understanding and combat polarization.
The Dignity and Respect In Action: Community Conversations attendees will learn about the LARA (Listen, Affirm, Respond, Add) method of communication, designed to help us engage in discussion empathetically and respectfully. They will then break out into table discussions on pre-determined topics on issues that directly impact our campus climate, using the LARA method.
Lunch will be provided.
The Campus Center is located in the middle of campus at 1 Campus Center Way. Parking is available in the Campus Center Garage.
