Opposing Views on the Electoral College is hosted by the University Union debate club and sponsored by UMass departments of Political Science, Communication, History and Legal Studies.

Provost Katherine Newman will moderate the discussion featuring Professor Amel Ahmed of the Political Science department and Yale Law's Akhil Reed Amar.

The topic of the debate, the electoral college, will raise important questions about the perennial value of the Constitution. It will also raise questions about whether we should have one big electoral market, by popular vote, or think of our country as consisting of different markets and constituencies.
