The Interdisciplinary Studies Institute presents "Celebrating the ISI: A Tribute to Stephen Clingman with a reading by Caryl Phillips."

Stephen Clingmanserved as the founding director, first of the Interdisciplinary Seminar in Humanities and Fine Arts (ISHA) from 2000-12, and then of its successor, the Interdisciplinary Studies Institute (ISI) until September 2017.

As Distinguished Professor in the Department of English and a noted author, Clingman's contributions to fostering an enduring interdisciplinary conversation at UMass are plentiful. As he steps down at ISI, we want to recognize and honor these contributions by looking back with former seminar participants and residents.

Caryl Phillips is widely regarded as a leading contemporary writer, particularly in the field of postcolonial, transnational and diasporic literature.

Light refreshments will be served
