The 27th Annual Massachusetts Multicultural Film Festival presents a screening of The Infiltrators (2019, Cristina Ibarra & Alex Rivera, USA, 95 min, in English).
What can a group of undocumented immigrants in the United States do against the abuses of the for-profit immigrant detention system? A hybrid of cinematic approaches, The Infiltrators, directed by Cristina Ibarra and Sundance award winner Alex Rivera, combines vital documentary filmmaking with a gripping human-rights thriller in this true story of immigrant detention and deportation. With equal parts laughter, fear, outrage, and courage, the film follows a group of visionary Dreamers and activists, bringing us into their circle and into increasing peril alongside them on a high-stakes mission for justice.
Co-director Alex Rivera will be present.
Introduction by David Hernández (Mount Holyoke College)
Co-sponsored by Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social - Five College Chapter.
Festival Director: Shawn Shimpach.
Festival Co-Curator: Daniel Pope.
