Highly acclaimed East German poets, songwriters and clowns Steffen Mensching and Hans-Eckardt Wenzel performed in the independent cabaret group Karls Enkel (Karl’s Grandchildren), founded in 1976. This film is based on their cabaret skits, which satirized current events and were frowned upon by the authorities.
